Miron “Be Green in ‘17” Video Contest

Miron Construction Co., Inc. is excited to announce a video contest, “Be Green in ’17,” to promote environmental education and kick off Green Apple Day of Service, offering a unique opportunity to join schools across the world in celebrating the central role that schools play in preparing the next generation of sustainable leaders. The goal of the video contest is to incentivize Wisconsin K-12 school staff, teachers, and students to lead sustainable actions that will create measurable change in one or more of the three pillars of a green school: environmental impact, health and wellness, and environmental and sustainability literacy.

The Miron “Be Green in ‘17” video contest is offering a cash prize of $1,000 to the entrant with the most creative video response to the question, “How would you use $1,000 to help your school go green in 2017?” To enter, create a video of one minute or less telling or showing us what the $1,000 prize would go toward and share it on your school’s Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages with the hashtag #MironBeGreenIn17. You can also upload your entry to the Contests tab on Miron’s Facebook page. The contest will run September 18 through October 20, 2017. A committee of Miron employees will select the winning video, which will be announced on November 3.

To sweeten the prize, the Center for Green Schools is making it even more worthwhile to join in the fun! This year, when you link your registered project on greenapple.org to a donation page on DonorsChoose.org, the Center for Green Schools at USGBC will chip in with matching funds to help meet your project’s goals. Matching funds are available for supplies through their corporate partners on DonorsChoose.org, volunteer assistance is available through their community teams, and fun downloads and planning resources are given to those who sign up to register a project.

Green Apple Day of Service is helping make green schools a reality for children everywhere by uniting parents, teachers, students, companies and local organizations for volunteer projects that transform schools into safe, healthy and sustainable learning environments.
