Rialto Middle School Gardens / Rialto Middle School Carbon Sequestration Forest and Oak Study Grove
This project involves an area 25,000+ square feet in size. One half of the project is designated as an outdoor classroom that utilizes agriculture and gardening methods. The garden will have citrus and fruit trees. Raised garden beds, rose garden areas, pollinator garden, native plant garden and a 2,000 gallon water retention tank that will be filled during winter rains utilizing the run off of one the buildings. This water will be plumbed into the irrigation system that uses a bypass to shut off city water to only use the stored water. The second half involves the creation of a false forest floor and planting of 60-75 carbon sequestrating trees and a small grove of four different types of oak trees to be used in the study of oak tree diseases. This is only a short description of what the facility will be doing.
