North Glendale Elementary School 2017-18 Green Schools Quest

March 11, 2018

Our school currently has no native plants or gardens on campus. We think it would be a fantastic learning opportunity for our second grade students to research Missouri native plants and pollinator species and help design and build a butterfly garden. This will benefit the entire school community and surrounding neighborhood through school beautification and as an opportunity to observe pollinators in action. Students will get to utilize their research skills as well as communication, math (measuring garden space) and mapping. We may also try to integrate student artwork (such as a painted stone border) into the project in some way.

Intended impact of project

Reduced environmental impact
Increased environmental & sustainability literacy
