Premier Charter School 2017-18 Green Schools Quest

March 11, 2018

Students are interested in creating an awareness campaign for last year's GSQ project, which was geared towards replacing the polystyrene trays that students use during lunch. We want the students at our school to understand where this waste goes and what impact it has on them, environment, and our world. The students also want to re-evaluate the cost that the school pays for removal of trash to incorporate this in their findings on the financial impact on the school. Finally, the students are interested in having more conversations with the stakeholders involved from janitorial to the cafe staff, and we'd further research how to implement any of the recyclable or reusable options that our food company could provide.

Students are also interested in researching, quantifying, and creating a campaign to reduce our school carbon foot print. This would involve a pre and post test and an educational campaign to inform our school community about our collective carbon footprint and how to reduce it taking steps as individuals and as a school community.

Intended impact of project
